Care as a Political Concept and Caring Society

Abstract

In the last 20-30 years, the number of studies dealing with the concept of care has increased in the feminist literature. However, care is a complex concept that can be discussed with its different dimensions. Recently, interest in care in social science has increased as care as a concept also determines the politics of solidarity, the terms of a caring society and social solidarity relations. This article deals with the idea of care as a political concept, discusses the concept of care with its different dimensions with an approach based on feminist literature, and focuses on the determining role of the idea of care and ethics of care in our social coexistence and solidaristic relations in search of a caring society. The article discusses care politics in the public sphere by presenting a theoretical framework for the debate on the concept of care.
