Massification in higher education naturally leads to an increase in the number of students in universities. This trend necessitates researchers to have a close examination on university education. The question of “In what ways do students experience University education regarding the academic, social and psychological aspects?” is the main drive of the current research. The data collection includes face-to-face interviews with 37 Middle East Technical University (METU) first year students in the 2028-2019 academic year utilizing the student engagement theory. Results showed that students are having somewhat challenging experiences academically however, they evaluate this challenge as necessary for their growth. They are aware of the process of becoming young adults and they appreciate the diversity of people and ideas in the university. Beyond these, the physical space in the university campus is limiting their lives in terms of studying, accommodation, food services and transportation. University experience of students is directly related to their academic, social, and psychological engagement and it needs to be considered with intersectionality. In this sense, the research contributes to higher education policies and academic leadership where the student development is handled with a holistic perspective.
