Abstract

Intersectionality  has drawn attention and conceptualized with the fact that it provides the ability to express common problems caused by race and gender-based discrimination. With the common usage of gender and popularity of related researches, the contexts expressed through intersectionality started to expand. Gender currently focuses on a great many comprehensive problems in a lot of researches today. Critical animal studies, specifically, examine the relationship between the problems faced by women and all non-dominant humans and the violence inflicted on non-human animals. In the current study, the concept of intersectionality was used to indicate this relation. The purpose of the study is to make an evaluation of critical animal studies and gender education in Turkey, based on this kind of use of intersectionality and by paying attention to the ideological function of education. As a consequence, While research on gender education in Turkey is quite prevalent, it has been observed that research and practices regarding the intersectionality of these two fields and critical animal studies in relation to education are rather limited. Finally, as a potential area, the study briefly touches upon critical animal pedagogy, which, in connection with the promise of emancipation in critical pedagogy, includes animals in this process of liberation.
